Creating and managing a world-class design team

Great teams are designed too. I help you hire the right designers, set the rituals that raise quality, and coach individuals until the team runs itself — then I get out of the way.

What’s included

Hire well, ritualise quality, grow people

  • Team health review

An honest diagnostic of skills, morale, process and quality gaps — with a sequenced plan to close them.

  • Hiring & interview design

Role definitions, portfolio-review rubrics and interview loops that select for craft and collaboration.

  • Critique & review rituals

Weekly crits, design reviews and quality bars that make feedback kind, specific and routine.

  • 1:1 coaching & career ladders

Growth frameworks and regular coaching so every designer knows their next level and how to reach it.

  • Leadership handover

I coach your incoming design lead until the rituals hold without me — that’s the whole point.

Questions

Before you ask

How big should the team be for this to make sense?

Three designers upward. Below that, a lighter coaching arrangement usually serves you better — ask me and I’ll say so honestly.

Will you replace our existing design lead?

No — I strengthen them. If you already have a lead, I coach them; if the seat is empty, I hold it warm while we hire and onboard together.

What happens when the engagement ends?

You keep the playbook: levels, rituals, rubrics and hiring loops. Most teams check in with me quarterly afterwards — the first call is on me.
